This past week I had the pleasure of joining the RHOLC and Baker’s Crust in “Buy a Stake in your Community” benefiting the Brain Injury Services (www.braininjurysrvc.org). Each Monday this month Baker’s Crust in Ashburn (19890 Belmont Chase Drive, Unit 135. Ashburn) is donating a portion of their great steak and cauliflower mash dinner to this non profit!
Show Features Works by Samantha S. Marshall
Press Release: May 22, 2017
The LAC's artWorks program will feature the work of an accomplished Loudoun artist this summer. Photographer Samantha Marshall's arresting digital images will adorn the walls of the Old Ox Brewery Tasting Room.
Marshall's work inthe show "If These Walls Could Talk..." is based on photographs she alters digitally for effect. Her images have a breathtaking sense of imagery and staging. The exhibit will be up at Old Ox Brewery at 44652 Guilford Dr #114, in Ashburn June through August. The Tasting Room is open Tuesdays through Sundays; check www.oldoxbrewery.com for details. Meet Samantha at a special Artist's Reception on Friday June 16 at 7 pm.
Over the past two years the artWorks program has launched several art exhibits at area venues, each curated for the individual space. These shows and accompanying Artist's Receptions have resulted in new connections between artists and patrons, as well as art sales. Patrons can buy art on the spot using the LAC's new tagging system, which uses QR codes. Purchasers can pay for art using their smart phones, show the receipt to staff, and take their artwork home. "It's important to make the art purchase as easy as possible for patrons," says LAC President Jill Evans-Kavaldjian. Interested in learning more about becoming an artWorks artist or venue? It is the 14th year of Broadlands Live! and my third as the official photographer! It is definitely a fun family event each second Friday of the Spring/Summer months! May 12th was the opening night and the rain was just unforgiving... so the team pre-planned and set up across the street at the Broadlands Community Center! The sponsors and vendors were all lined up under tents and there was even a new food truck from Parallel Wine & Bistro - check out their website here. The Music line up was the amazing Kelly Neff and Chris Henry & The Hardcore Grass along with the always fun Kids' favorite opener, The Great Zucchini!
The Summer is fading behind us, and as I reflect on some of the sweet events I was blessed to attend, this one stands out! The baptism ceremony was held at the Saint Francis de Sales Catholic Church. The beautiful architecture of this Purcellville church plus the emotion of witnessing the introduction of a child to God will always be one of my sweetest memories this year!
Helping the parents to focus on their child's special day is just one of the many reasons I love what I do! Capturing memories with all of the family members in the frame... priceless!
